Here is a sampling of checkpoints to consider when making a decision to convert your technology to different platforms.

· It is essential to identify the data which will be converted. 

· Identify the files required for the conversion. 

· Define the tracking measurement tool to measure the progress and to ensure that all target dates will be reached. 

· Ensure you have hired knowledgeable consultants for the system/products that you are converting. 

· Always be sure to establish open communication with the management, business units and the conversion team.

· Initiate a schedule for workflows to document the present and the future workflows with the clients. This will also Identify any deviations and have full detail requirements written to fill the GAPS. 

· Develop a test plan for all deviations. Again it is instrumental to review these items with your client to ensure full buy in to the process and to ensure that the client understands how the future state, how the gaps will be filled and how the testing will be expedited.

· A decision will need to be made on the mapping specifications and interaction with the business units will be essential to ensure that the old data is being mapped to the correct data elements on the new system, the necessary balancing reports and check out reports are established.

· Develop a training plan to ensure that the staff will have a clear understand of how they will expedite their work on the new system in a flawless manner.

· Develop and execute a schedule for mock testing prior to LIVE date to ensure seamless transition along with a Sequence of Events.

· Establish the conversion team support timeframes after live date.
